Yes. 7th June 08 will always be remembered.

Let me share with you the details.

1) Kurasa Something @ Wondermilk.

Atie and me arrived there at about 6.30pm. John Hafiz and Fahmi(FSF) were there to welcome us. There were already some people there but none that I'm familiar with. After awhile Arif @ Robert Smith arrived with Bob (The Pilgrims). The show only started at about 6.45pm with the first band to take the spot, "Lords Sunny Day". They're playing some jazz-rock kinda tunes and believe that all were originals songs. Not bad. They only have a short set and played 3 songs.

After that we have Irman Hilmi, playing some tunes from his laptop. Songs played were Anyone Else But You(Moldy Peaches), Ten Storey Love Songs(The Stone Roses), Love Will Tear Us Apart(Joy Division) and some other ambience stuff which I don't know who. At the same time Atie sold quite a number of InnerView to the attendees. Not bad at all!

Roughly at 8pm, we have the Cover Ups consist of Bob, the other Bob (Arif Smith) and Fahmi strutting their stuff. They're like barely cooked, off timings and lyrics but still got a good respond from the crowd. They played songs like I Wanna Be Sedated (The Ramones), Runaway (Del Shannon) and Fight For Your Rights (ACAB) just to name a few. They also requested me to sing a song for them, I Who Have Nothing Too from DEP. For the sake of having some good laughs, why not, eh?

Immediately after the Cover Ups set ended, I briefly bid goodbye to the gang as I needed to rush to Pelita Hati. I missed the charity's auction and Deepset's set but I believe everything should be going on well. Cheers to the people who had been involved in organising such a cool event! I repeat... COOL event.

2) It's Just Another Job @ Pelita Hati Art Gallery

Arrived at about 8.30pm, luckily it was still in the midst of a speech given by a grey haired guy. I'm not sure who. Greeted by DEP's drummer BEM at the door, who had already arrived with his girlfriend. Took a peek inside and saw Awi (the artist) sitting in front listening to the speech. Waved at him to get his acknowledgement of my presence. He smiled back. So I went outside and mingled with the attendees. Familiar faces like Fathul, Avroco, Rahmat Haron, Melissa, Weng, Poodien, Ise and Ujang were there among others. Tojeng and Man Ganu arrived a little later. There were also some of Avroco's international friends, present. Did some catching ups and sold some CDs. Atie's InnerView again were sold like hot cakes. Wow!

At about 9.15pm, Avroco who was known as Avacado & The Bad Voices for the night, strutting his stuff with his originals that sounded like Bob Dylan minus the Trengganu accent. Spotting D and A chords on most of his songs, I'm struggling to hear what he was singing as the mic was not really helping in enhancing his vocals. And with Avroco's signature singing, I can only rely on my optical sense to appreciate his performance. He played quite a number of songs and got good respond from the crowd. Cheers!

As soon as Avroco got off the spot, DEP's name was announced and we immediately grabbed our instruments and get on with the first song, Noir (an unreleased material). And then moved on to Where I Belong, This One's Forever and lastly, a cover from Motorpsycho called Waiting For The One... Every song went smoothly minus the problem with the mics. There was also a side performance or some would call it a back up dancing while we're playing This One's Forever and Waiting For The One, courtesy of Avroco's international friend. What's his name by the way?It feels like Hiburan Minggu Ini bersama DEP kinda thing. Hahaha! Anyway thanks to that guy for supporting our act and thank god for not having a real gun. If not, we'd really have a real BLAST then.

Yeah. All and all, everything went smoothly. Only noticed that our old buddies like Ed and Jadam also present after we ended our set. After some photo sessions with Awi and thanked him for inviting us, we decided to go to Restoran Pelita Bangsar for supper and surprisingly got ourselves some football stickers from a promoter. Yes, what a way to end our lovely day. Free football stickers!

LAPORAN SESI LATIHAN – 31MEI08

Sabtu lepas, 31Mei08, bertempat di rumah aku. Sesi latihan bagi persiapan untuk show di Pelita Hati pada 7Jun08 ni.

Janji pukul 8.30pm, Tojeng masih tak kelihatan. Telepon pon tidak. Lebih kurang kul 9pm, aku text dia. “ Wei, dah pukul 9 dah ni, manenye?” Dalam 5 minit lepas tu, dapat panggilan dari Easeart, “Rumah kau nombor berape? Lagi 10 minit kitaorang sampai.”

Aku bagi tau nombor rumah dan selepas tu mencongak, kalau 10 minit, sekarang pukul 9.08pm, pukul 9.30pm la baru sampai… Aku pon lepak dalam bilik sebab bini aku tak berape sihat. Anak-anak aku dah lame terbongkang, sampai Brazil dah kot. So layan bini aku jap… Bagi dia relax sikit.

Tak sampai 10 minit, aku dengar dah suara-suara orang kat ruang depan. Uih cepatnye. Keluar tengok, ye dah terpacul dah pemuzik@rockstar yang kecundang. Aku bagitau Easeart, “Aku ingat ko sampai lambat lagi…Tapi baru aku teringat kau yang cakap 10 minit, kalau Tojeng yang cakap maknenye besok la baru korang sampai.” Aku ngan Easeart gelak sambil di’usha’ dengan muka boring oleh Tojeng.

Aku : Korang dah makan?
Tojeng : Eh takpe ah…
Easart : Boleh jugak…

Check nasi ade sikit, lauk ade sikit. Easeart bantai makan pas tu diikuti oleh Tojeng yang konon malu la… Cheh! Malu konon. Dah abis makan semua, sesi isap rokok pulak kat luar. Tak boleh isap dalam rumah sebab ade budak kecik. Satu lagi nanti bau rumah tak best sangat. Borak lebih kurang, catching up. Sambil tu Easeart tolong tune gitar kita semua.

OK, start practise dengan This One’s Forever, tak banyak beza. Sama aje gayanya tapi mungkin pace yang lebih slow. Takde banyak kung fu dalam lagu ni. Tojeng cuma akan selitkan beberapa filler ketika verse. Itu je… Easeart pon join jam jugak dengan G&L Asat Classic dia yang dah di-refret. Sedap gila, kalau gitar tu kuih memang dah lama kene makan dengan aku. Dengan sedikit petikan dari Easeart dan juga filler here and there, tambah sedap lagi. Kalau M.Nasir dengar mesti jealous.

Easeart, aku dengan Tojeng dah berkawan 17 tahun. Setiap kali kalau antara kami ade show, memang akan buat macam ni. Kitaorang akan jam sekali walaupun Easeart bukan main band dengan aku pon. Tapi the closeness, buddies for life punya attitude tu dah buat kitaorang selalu jam macam ni…(Terus mengingatkan aku pada badminton court Bukit Sekilau dekat dengan Restoran Yak Rang dan juga rumah Lebai) Tu nasib baik Panther kena attend kenduri kahwin adik dia, kalau tidak, memang sesi Akustika Di Atas Tikar dah. Sape nak tengok kene bayar… Cheh! Berangan…

So dah main lagu tu, beralih slow-slow ke lagu seterusnya, Soldered By Pain, Where I Belong, dan beberapa lagu baru dalam setlist macam Can You Hear The Ocean? Noir dan mungkin Suffer The Consequences… Mungkin akan cover lagu… maleh cakap la… surprise la sikit… tapi mungkin tak ramai yang tau lagu aku nak cover ni sebab band ni agak purba… Nak buat camana, nak cover lagu dari band baru… susah aku nak relate dengan kenangan yang menusuk kalbu ku… Tak paham? Biar je la macam tu…

So interval isap rokok sekali lagi… borak,borak, borak… pas tu buat lawak bangsat… borak, borak… lawak bangsat… borak pasal peminat pompuan (ni melibatkan Tojeng sahaja)… dan diakhiri dengan lawak bangsat yang ade unsur lucah sikit..Dah!

Sambung practise sekali lagi, semua lagu yang tersenarai dalam setlist. OK ade kemajuan dengan solo-solo Tojeng yang ala Frusciante tu… (pakai snowcap cam Frusciante gak… Koya Tojeng).. Easeart jugak sekali-sekala mencelah dan fill mane yang patut. Ish, kalau Easeart boleh join sekali pon okay jugak ni… Aku nyanyi suara tak dapat nak lepaskan macam Pavarotti sebab jam dah menunjukkan pukul 11.40pm. So maintain buat suara ala Estranged dah la...

Jam sekarang dah menunjukkan pukul 12.10am. Let’s call it a day la… Lepak kat luar lagi isap rokok. Borak..borak…borak… lawak intelligent pulak (ingat kitaorang tak smart macam abang neraka ke?)… borak..borak …borak… bicara soal jiwa pulak dengan Tojeng… (kepada yang faham sahaja… Yang tak faham just leave it that way)… Borak…borak…

Tojeng: Jom gi minum dulu…
Easart : Jom!
Aku : Tak boleh la… bini aku tak sihat sangat… Lepak dulu la…

Sambung isap rokok, last stick… Borak…borak… … lawak bangsat dan diselitkan dengan lawak intelligent (supaya ada balance yin & yang dia or whatever..)…Tojeng gelak dan tersipu-sipu malu…

Easart : Eh nak gerak dah. Nak kene jumpe Eugene sebab nak ambik effect aku.
Tojeng : OK semula la… Dah OK dah tadi dok?
Aku: OK. Hari Jumaat pulak… Nanti Bem pun join sekali. OK la guys. Thanks for coming.

Next session : Jumaat 6Jun08, 8pm – Rumah aku..
